I was very happy to see South Korea's movie in USA. When I saw this movie in theather, I was proud of my country. My feeling like is that my country has lots of beautiful actress like them as Jennifer Aniston or Sarah Jessica Parker. In the movie, the actress were very famous in Korean Society, but they are same in reality. I had question that how much the director spend to casting fee for gathering the top actress.
This movie is like documentary or reality program. Because the actress were very complaining about wating and using some slang in Korean. I am not sure that their act is real or not, but I think that the chrimas party scene looks life very real. Actually, I might be expect to hear some gassip in the movie, but it didn't present. At the christmas scene, it is like a talkshow. They talked each other very naturally as talkative. Most of people anticipated of unconvinience and sadness to actess. However, when the actress told their problem, it is not a give some information and it is problem with communication. They had to be looked like perfect and the most beautiful person in the world, and they had some problem about can't talk whenever and whatever they want. Also, they had afraid of rival. Some old actress told about their divorce. Actually, the issue is after divorcing. As a result, they had common about their own story . I realized that they are just 'people' and 'women' same as me. They are same people who can be afraid of getting old and have pain about gassip relate to their divorce.
If I were one of the actress, I didn't keep getting that kind of job. It is not garantee my own privacy life, and always on the table in others conversation. It will be very sad moment. I don't have that kind of beauty and talent, but I am very satisfied my life which is different from actress's lives.

After you watched this film and felt that you were proud, I feel like I understand what you mean. I also get proud when I see a project done by mexican people and since it is such a beautiful job of course we would like to share. I also do not know if the movie was documentary or acted out because it was probably harder for me to figure it out since I couldn't tell what was going on in their way of talking since I don't speak Korean it is probably harder to figure it out. for me.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you about not having that sort of job, because who wants to be so public and who would want to have that way of living. I don't believe that is living having that life, it felt to me like it is a false way to live, when there isn't something with a value to be doing it. But Monica you have a good decision by accepting your way of life, it is wonderful that you get satisfied by who you are living and feel happy about it. Each person is very important to live their own life since it will make an impact in one way or another. Each individual has its own personalitty and their own long life story.
I wanted to watch this movie but have not yet get a chance to. But after reading your review about the movie, I think it will be interesting to watch and I am definitely going to find time to watch it. I agreed wtih your statements about woking as an actress. I think this job is such a big trade off because once you are an actress, you get fame and make big money fast. However, you will also lose your private life and become the conversation topic of many people, either positively or negatively. I first thought this would be a fun movie to watch because it shows the "backstage" of thie career. It lets the audiences what life is like for the people on the screen. By the way I really liked the name of your blog, "How Wonderful I Am!" I think it's really cute :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your post and i can honestly tell tell that you have put lots of time writing that blog. I just want to bring someting to your attention. When you write somethign as beautful, cheerful as that blog you just wrote, you really need to hook up your readers by making it more clearly for them to understand exaxtly what you want to say. I did not see wahat makes that movie so beautiful plus you never mentioned why you liked it so much.
ReplyDeleteAnd i do not agree with that statement you made by saying you would not want to become a movie star because you are too concern about your private life. You can become one of the most popular persones in the intertainment industry and still live aprivate life style. Bill Gates for instant, im using Bill Gates who is one of the richest men in the world. He is in the spot light at all time but you rarely hear any negativity about him....Who would not want to become a rock ar movie star, as long there are big buck there.
you did not even mentionwhat kind of movie it was or even the title of the movie. for some of us who do not understand Korean langueage, would so lost understanding what exactly is going on.

ReplyDeleteI didn't see this movie but it sounds like it presented some opportunities for connections with class concepts. It looks like body image, the male gaze, and standards of beauty were explored in the film, but you don't connect these with course concepts.
